John Lauer, a dedicated firefighter and paramedic with the Wausau fire department, has stepped down to take the Executive Director position at IRONBULL, an organization committed to promoting outdoor adventure sports in Central Wisconsin.
Lauer’s journey with IRONBULL began as a participant and volunteer, where he showcased his passion for endurance sports and community engagement. Notably, he completed his first ultra marathon during IRONBULL’s inaugural Ultra Trail event, finishing the challenging 50k race in 7 hours and 28 minutes.
Beyond his involvement with IRONBULL, Lauer plays a pivotal role in the Central Wisconsin Off-Road Cycling Coalition (CWOCC), serving on its board of directors. His efforts have been instrumental in trail maintenance for both winter and summer biking to the Nine Mile Recreation Area in Marathon County. Lauer continues to act as a liaison with the Marathon County Parks and Forestry Departments, advocating for the development and maintenance of local cycling trails.
In his new role as Executive Director, Lauer aims to leverage his extensive experience and passion for outdoor sports to further IRONBULL’s mission of showcasing Central Wisconsin’s recreational opportunities. His leadership is expected to enhance the organization’s events and initiatives, fostering a vibrant community for adventure enthusiasts in the region.
